Ad-ID Introduces Complete External Access (CEA) by Diana Ovalle

Wednesday, July 20, 2016

The Complete External Access (CEA) feature of Ad-ID launched in January 2016. Complete External Access provides approved companies with access to all Ad-ID codes and metadata in the Ad-ID system. Companies using CEA must know the full 11- or 12-character Ad-ID code they are looking for in order to read the associated metadata. Ad-ID information cannot be modified in any way through CEA.

CEA simplifies the process by which advertisers and agencies share the advertising identification data required by media networks for cross-platform commercial management and other operational necessities. The identification data that is currently shared with media networks through manual processes is the same data that is shared with these companies automatically through CEA.

CEA allows companies to improve their verification abilities, reducing the risk of errors and eliminating confusion related to the identity of advertising assets. These enhancements also enable more accurate and efficient cross-platform measurement

Ad-ID users may choose to exclude codes from CEA on a code-by-code basis. If a code is not accessible through CEA, the companies using this service will receive confirmation only that it is a valid Ad-ID code and the name of the parent company to which the code’s prefix is registered.

CEA is available to media outlets and online publishers; other companies must apply and be approved. The following companies have been approved and are working on integrating CEA with their processes: CBS Interactive, Crown Media, Encompass, and RSG Media. Additional media outlets, online publishers, and vendors are working with Ad-ID in regard to CEA.

Ad-ID continues to reach out to new companies and is in various stages of agreement negotiations. For more information, visit the External Access section of the Ad-ID website.
